They wouldn't, would they? By now, you probably know very well that they would. Anthropogenic climate change, as sold to us, is entirely fraudulent (as set out in Vineyards in Greenland), but those who seek to subjugate us need us to believe that it's true, so they have to find ways to convince us. They can't leave it all to Nature, because she won't oblige in the truncated time frame they are working to and in the fashion that is required, so they have to get proactive; not just via the soft tools of propaganda and falsehood (although, as we shall see, there is more than enough manure to go around) – they need stuff to actually happen, too. They're on a tight schedule – 2030, at the latest, if they are to be believed, although I fear that it will be much sooner than that.
Moreover, “climate change” has to be a vaguely plausible explanation for the events that they must initiate. In this context, the meaning of “vaguely” is nuanced, depending on who is examining the claim. Climatistas will need no convincing – the onset of a sudden Ice Age wouldn't shake their conviction that we were still on the path towards runaway global warming.
At the other end of the scale, pre-existing “deniers” will already know what's true and what isn't and others, perhaps rejuvenating their atrophied critical thinking ability, will likely smell a rat given the extremely propitious timing and will do some digging of their own. In so doing, they are almost certainly going to discover that the claims of the alarmists do not match the indisputable facts on the ground.
It's the soft center, the go along to get along crowd and the unalterably trusting that must, in the nanosecond of analysis that they allow themselves, be incapable of separating fallacious cause from effect. The chances of this group wondering how allegedly rising temperatures might actually be related to extreme weather events is vanishingly small. So, vaguely plausible.
Firstly, then, the easy part; propaganda and lies. The masses must be persuaded that global temperatures are actually rising, because even the hard of thinking will find it difficult to accept that there can be effect without any cause at all. In truth, if one analysis clean data (by using measuring sites than are uncontaminated by the urban heat island effect), the following is what we get.
Figure 1
They must also be convinced that the reason for this non-existent rise is the release of CO2 into the atmosphere, the fruit of human activities. But CO2 makes up 0.04% of the atmosphere, if we are to believe the figures that are presented to us and common sense ought to caution us not to expect too much from a trace element of that size. Further, the IPCC (the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) estimates that humans are only responsible for 5% of this total.(1)
Regrettably, the evidence demonstrates that CO2 is, overall, a coolant, radiating “incoming solar energy and outgoing terrestrial heat away to space.”(2) And way back in 1971 (before the global warming cult was inaugurated), when the fear was that the world was about to fall into the grip of a new Ice Age, it was known that the smoke and airborne soot created by the burning of fossil fuels cooled the atmosphere by screening out solar energy and assisting in the creation of fog and clouds.(3)
Additionally, while the exact time span is variable, it is clear that CO2 levels rise in response to temperature changes, not the other way around; in the Antarctic, the time lag is around 800 years (according to the fossil record)(4) and by months or years according to other studies in the more recent past.(5)(6)
In further news, coral reefs aren't dying off and the poles aren't melting, either.
“Last year’s big omission was coral reefs, that have shown spectacular growth on the Great Barrier Reef of late. This year’s missing scare story is the Greenland ice sheet, where a significant, unreported recovery is in progress.”(7)
In truth, there's nothing much going on with the world's climate, nor should we expect there to be. Big changes do not often occur over short time frames, unless an obviously catastrophic event intervenes; a meteor crash or a massive volcanic eruption, for instance. There are periodic El Niños (2006-07, 2009-10, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2018-19) in the Pacific and corresponding La Niñas, which have a marked effect on air and sea temperatures globally. And the Sun itself is a far more influential driver of climate than any other factor:
“The Earth continually warms and cools. The cycle is undeniable, ancient, often abrupt, and global. It is also unstoppable. Isotopes in the ice and sediment cores, ancient tree rings, and stalagmites tell us that it is linked to small changes in solar activity.”(8)
“...Tiny variations in the sun's irradiance are amplified into major climate changes on Earth by at least two factors: (1) cosmic rays creating more or fewer of the low, cooling clouds in the earth's atmosphere; and (2) solar driven ozone changes in the stratosphere creating more or less heating of the lower atmosphere...”(9)
But none of this evidence will be found in the mainstream. Neither, for the most part, will there be reference to any genuine data that actually undergirds the alarmists' assertions. The usual modus operandi is for the IPCC to provide summaries that bear no relation to the reports themselves and for the media to continually trumpet the claim that 97% of the world's climate scientists believe in global warming (they don't). In fact, 1,600 of them just signed a declaration that insists that there is no climate emergency and, further, that CO2 is not a pollutant, but is instead beneficial:
“There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050. Go for adaptation instead of mitigation; adaptation works whatever the causes are.”(10)
Figure 2
Instead of reporting on actual outcomes, much will be made of climate modelling, the alleged ability to accurately forecast the future. In reality, this cannot be done; even small errors in data inputs can result in huge forecast errors. The IPCC knows this and even acknowledged it, back in 2001 when they still exhibited a modicum of propriety:
"The climate system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible."(11)
But that doesn't mean that the Climate Mafia won't still insist that Armageddon is just around the corner unless we change our ways in the manner that only they can mandate. A favorite trick is to cherry pick dates, the better to deceive, with 1850 being particularly popular, due to the fact that the Earth was coming out of a three hundred year cooling cycle and temperatures were rising naturally. Nonetheless, the alarmists claim that this date marks the beginning of the modern industrial age, ignoring the fact that only a small percentage of the world's population could even be considered for such a category in the nineteenth century.
“We know that temperature has varied greatly over the millennia. We also know that for virtually all of that time, global warming and cooling were driven entirely by natural forces, which did not cease to operate at the beginning of the 20th century.”(12)
However, as we know to our cost, the lies about human induced global warming have been largely unchallenged until very recently and, even if we don't in fact believe, our collective reticence in the public square has proved damaging. As with the alleged pandemic, a reluctance to question the narrative has given the ruling class all the encouragement they need and, incrementally, they have used the scam to foist the Net Zero agenda upon us.
In truth, the campaign has been thirty years in the making and it's been happening right under our noses. The UK passed the Climate Change Act back in 2008, a piece of legislation that committed the country to a Net Zero future; it's now against the law to not impose a new Stone Age on UK citizens. The Paris Climate Accords, the most recent instruction manual for the authoritarians, is eight years old. Nonetheless, despite the distance traveled, progress has still felt gradual. But not any more. This summer has seen a sudden increase in climate alarmism, the like of which we have not experienced hitherto. The reason?
“The petty totalitarians have moved from a marathon's pace to a sprint not because the finish line is just ahead, but because too many ordinary people have begun to figure out what is going on around them.”(13)
I suspect this is so. It seems likely that the 'pandemic' was supposed to have accomplished more than it did; certainly, 'vaccine' passports were supposed to be part of the price for the return to a semblance of normality and there was plenty of talk about climate lock-downs from the likes of the WEF. It was predicted that, by the end of 2020, CO2 emissions would be down 7%.(14)
Figure 3
The proposed passports would have been a Trojan Horse; digital ID's, a central bank digital currency, carbon allowances and the entire suite of authoritarian tools would have been deployed in short order. However, things did not go entirely to plan, due in no small part to their own petty vindictiveness. Lest we forget, the great unraveling was initiated by Boris Johnson, a foot soldier in the globalist cabal, but previously the red-headed stepchild leading the Brexit insurgency.
He absolutely had to be severely punished for that sin and the never-ending drip, drip, drip of Partygate was to be the premise for his ouster, but Boris seemed to believe (incorrectly) that the voting public could save him and broke ranks with the rest of the totalitarians; as soon as he declared that the British would have to live with Covid and that all restrictions were to be dispensed with, it was inevitable that other countries would have to follow suit, eventually. Remarkably, that was as recent as February 2022.(15) Since then, there has been a period of relative respite, albeit one that has been heavily tinged with financial insecurity.
Giving people time to think was never part of the plan. The ramping up of fear and panic is supposed to be followed by a brief reversion to the mean before the next wave is launched – there isn't supposed to be a prolonged period of reflection built into the model. It's possible that the would-be tyrants believed that the past winter of discontent and the war in Ukraine would keep us sufficiently occupied to abjure reflection, but they seem to have realized – somewhat belatedly – that the spell has worn off. And so, suddenly, the news is full of climate fear porn.
"The hottest month just ended. We witnessed scorching heat, extreme weather events, wildfires, and severe health consequences...It's a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action to address climate change.”(16)
That was Tedros the Terrorist over at the WHO, on 1st August. This is Guterres at the UN on 27th July:
"The era of global warming has ended, the era of global boiling has arrived."(17)
The congenital liars in the media and, seemingly, in every weather room on every TV channel are doing their bit, too. They claim that the heat waves in southern Europe are reflective of a 2.5°C rise in temperature caused by man. They said that Sardinia would be 46°C for up to ten days at the end of July, that Sicily would see a temperature of 48°C and that Rome would be 40°C for fifteen days; all complete nonsense. Sicily only managed 34°C, Sardinia got to 40°C and then fell away to the low thirties and Rome did likewise.(18)
Figure 4
These “record highs” were reported by the European Space Agency (ESA). As has become depressingly familiar in the climate debate, the ESA was lying: it was measuring the surface temperature, not the air temperature at two meters above the ground, which is the standard method, and surface temperature is many degrees higher;(19) a pristine example of the classic apples and oranges conundrum, served up for the purpose of promoting hysteria. The reality is that heat waves are much less prevalent than previously and the 1930s continues to lead the way. There is nothing exceptional about our current weather patterns.
Figure 5
The United States wasn't about to self-immolate either.
Figure 6
It's not just the land that's allegedly heating to dangerous levels; it's the oceans, too. Apparently, they're boiling because they're having to absorb all the extra heat that is being generated. In the real world, this is yet more bunkum:
“If the atmospheric temperature rose by a huge 27°C and all that heat was then transferred to just the first 72 metres of the ocean, it would only be enough to raise sea temperatures at that level by 1°C.”(20)
In fact, the oceans have warmed by 0.03% since 1990 (according to the same UN that is keen to propagate as much disinformation as the gullible can absorb).(21) “Record temperatures” can only be claimed by measuring the warmest part of the ocean – between 60°S and 60°N – and then only when special circumstances apply:
“At the moment, an El Niño is brewing in the Pacific which warms the top of the ocean and can transfer heat across the world. It is a natural oscillation, but alarmist scientists are rushing to claim any warming as human-caused climate change.”(22)
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. In addition, the cessation of a prolonged La Niña creates an exaggerated contrast in sea temperature, solely attributable to natural causes. Then there are the undersea volcanoes, of which there are twice as many as previously thought.(23) Not to mention the role of internal ocean processes and naturally circulating heat that can explain much, if not all, of periodic ocean warming.(24) And some parts of the ocean aren't warm at all:
“While corporate media devotes buckets of ink to the pockets of North Atlantic warming – a natural phenomenon tied to El Nino – a North Coast Guard flight....discovered exceptional volumes of sea ice just off Iceland’s coastline, which they say threatens seafarers.”(25)
Also not attracting attention is the January 22nd 2022 eruption of a Tongan underwater volcano, Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai, which produced a sonic boom that was heard in Alaska.(26) It was the largest explosion in more than a century. It also dumped into the atmosphere enough water vapor to fill 58,000 Olympic sized swimming pools. Water vapor is the most potent greenhouse gas and this quantity will stay in the atmosphere for several years. It will inevitably have a warming effect – natural and temporary and nothing to do with human activity.
Figure 7
“In a recent paper published in Nature, a team of scientists showed the unprecedented increase in the global stratospheric water mass by 13% (relative to climatological levels) and a five-fold increase of stratospheric aerosol load — the highest in the last three decades.
Using a combination of satellite data ... the team found that due to the extreme altitude, the volcanic plume circumnavigated the Earth in just one week and dispersed nearly pole-to-pole in three months.”(27)
But the climate fanatics aren't content with simply exaggerating, misrepresenting, lying and suppressing information about temperatures. Increasingly, they are co-opting “extreme weather” as part of their narrative, despite the total absence of evidence to back up any such claim. The usual trajectory of this particular narrative includes assertions of impending doom, followed by misleading data and a conclusion that always asserts that we must change our ways.
This summer, these voices have become exponentially more shrill. And there has been another disturbing development – instead of waiting for a hurricane or a typhoon to happen along, some unidentified bad actors are taking matters into their own hands. More specifically, there has been an epidemic of arson, spread across continents.
In Europe, Rhodes, Corfu and Tenerife were supposed to be engulfed in giant conflagrations. Mainland Greece is particularly afflicted, with one fire becoming the largest recorded in the EU.(28) Sicily and Sardinia were also the victims of what are always termed “wild fires”, the inference being that they have somehow started naturally. All told, 1,926 fires have been reported across EU nations in the first seven months of 2023 - almost four times the fifteen year average. Algeria suffered a succession of blazes across the north of the country.(29)
As expected, the usual Jeremiahs were hard at work, lying through their teeth. Guterres was, once again, to the fore:
“The evidence is everywhere. Humanity has unleashed destruction. This must not inspire despair, but action.”(30)
CNN wasn't far behind:
“Scientists who link the contribution of the climate crisis to extreme weather events say that all heat waves – which can trigger or exacerbate wildfires – now have the fingerprints of human-caused climate change on them.”(31)
Regrettably, as we've seen, the European heatwave was just another heatwave. July wasn't the hottest month on record and the “wildfires” weren't the result of non-existent climate change – they were the result of arson. On Rhodes,(32) on Tenerife,(33) in mainland Greece,(34) in Italy,(35) most of the fires were started by a human hand. Numerous blazes, in close proximity to each other, broke out at the same time. The Greeks arrested 79 “arsonist scum”, thereby giving the lie to the BBC's assertion (which appeared in the same article) that
“...summer wildfires are common in Greece and scientists have linked the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, including heatwaves, to climate change.”(36)
The fact that these outbreaks of arson happened across a large number of European countries over the same short time-span ought to give pause, especially when one considers that the EU is fully on board with the Net Zero agenda. The knee-jerk inclination to blame climate change and play down the wanton destruction caused by human firebugs only adds to the intrigue. Is it too much of a stretch to suspect that a climate activist who will superglue his hand to the road or throw yellow paint over works of art might also be capable of throwing a lit match into a bush? I think not.
Europe wasn't alone; North America was also in the firing line. Washington, a state with a long and inglorious history of arson,(37)(38) had 27 fires on the go as of 21st August.(39)
Figure 8
Louisiana has had 441 fires between August 1st and August 24th (with multiple towns evacuated),(40) at least some of which can already be attributed to arson.(41) Canada seems to have been on fire for most of the year, which shouldn't be the case, but is. The wildfire season is mid-August, mid-July at its earliest - but not this year.
Figure 9
And there is nothing natural about it. How can there be? If climate change wee to blame, why weren't there fires galore last year? Why hasn't it felt noticeably warmer in Canada (it hasn't)? And why is it that fires are starting simultaneously across a broad swathe of real estate, as seen via satellite imagery?
Figure 10
The answer is the obvious one, as there is no natural explanation to hand; many of the fires must be the result of co-ordinated human activity. Police in at least three provinces seem to agree.(42)(43)(44) And, as in Europe and the US, fire-starters have been known to be active in the very recent past. Kelowna BC, the location of one particularly vicious blaze, has the third highest rate of arson in the entire country.(45) But, as we might have come to expect, the top brass live in a parallel universe where nothing as fundamental as facts are allowed the time of day.
Biden thinks that Canada's “record wildfires … are intensifying because of the climate crisis”. Trudeau is also convinced that Canada is experiencing “more and more of these fires because of climate change”.(46) It seems that blaming climate change while police departments are tracking down arsonists is not cognitively dissonant; it's just business as usual. As is setting fires where they will have the maximum effect, such as upwind of New York.
Figure 11
But who could possibly be responsible for such a vast uptick in arson? Who could co-ordinate a campaign of this size, not just across North America, but across Europe as well? Because, given that climate change cannot be the cause, it is surely too much of a coincidence to believe that disparate individuals on different continents all became enamored of fire-starting more or less simultaneously.
If one dismisses the likelihood of hundreds of random individuals somehow acting in concert, one is left with two possible scenarios; state actors or non-state actors, such as an eco-terrorist group like Extinction Rebellion. As previously noted, the latter option seems possible, at first blush – a group of zealots wandering off to remote areas to set fires, the better to encourage governments in their Net Zero mission. They may very well be part of the overall picture, but I'm not convinced that they have a major role to play:
“Would an eco-terrorist group really be capable of that level of co-ordination, though? We're talking a minimum of a hundred people going to remote areas and setting fires all at once. Certainly, there are well more than a hundred carbon cultists in the world, but there's a big difference between between the levels of buy-in....There's also the competence question. As a rule, fanaticism and professionalism are inversely correlated. Not always, but the combination of ability and zealotry is fairly rare.”(47)
Western governments are full of climate change advocates; or, more accurately, they are full of people who are using the myth of climate change to push through policies that will have a deleterious effect on our future health and freedom. There is no way to attain Net Zero, which every regime in Europe and the Anglosphere is committed to whether they articulate it or not, without de-industrialization on a massive scale. Similarly, there is no way to enforce carbon orthodoxy without control mechanisms such as CBDCs and social credit scores.
And none of the coming crackdown can be justified if the “climate emergency” trope is debunked, to use one of their favorite words. But lately, the narrative has been slipping. Scientific papers that deal with actual climate change evidence (or the lack thereof) have been published in mainstream publications.(48) Distinguished climate scientists have stated that recent weather events can be explained by natural variability, not by any increase in anthropogenic CO2.(49) Even Nobel Laureates are getting in on the act:
“...climate science has metastasized into massive shock-journalism pseudoscience..”(50)
says the 2022 Nobel Prize winner in Physics. Ordinary people have taken to eye-rolling when the latest catastrophizing is regurgitated by the mockingbird media. The “pandemic” has created an ever-growing tribe of cynics, who are alive to the probability that, if Biden, Sunak, Trudeau and their minions are lying egregiously about one thing, they're probably lying about others, climate change chief amongst them. Is it beyond the bounds of possibility that our lords and masters would want to give things a little boost, just to make their coming (telegraphed) attempt at climate lock-downs more justifiable?
I would very definitely think not. They are certainly lying about climate change in general and wildfires in particular. The fires are distinctly anomalous, wherever one looks. If climate change isn't responsible, then something else is. Yes, the possibility of state involvement is speculative but, having said that, the wildfires fit their known policy vectors and
“...this is the same ruling class that blew up the Nordstream pipeline and then pretended Russia did it. They're not above committing acts of terrorism on a vast scale if they think it will benefit them.”(51)
And fire is, provably, a weapon of choice of another group of individuals (or, perhaps, the same group of individuals) who targeted farms and food processing plants in 2022.
Figure 12
The re-emergence of lock-down talk is notable. Regime-friendly “fact checkers” do their best to ridicule those who warn that they are in our new future but, as usual, they doth protest too much. The UN has a report on its website which recommends that “carbon emissions must fall by the equivalent of a global lockdown roughly every two years for the next decade...”.(52)
The UK kicked it off a month ago by reprising the time-honored “war” analogy, in what was clearly a co-ordinated offensive.(53) The US media wasn't far behind:
“Biden and his aides need to grab that metaphorical bullhorn and call the TV networks to announce a prime-time address from the Oval Office that will declare a national emergency — in essence, a state of war — to fight climate change.”(54)
California's liberals, the leading lights of green orthodoxy, are on board with the idea, not that they have as much choice in the matter as others, because their electrical grid is so unstable.(55) Biden also got in the spirit of things when he declared climate change “an existential threat” at the end of July.(56) The invocation of war is an important indicator of future conduct, as wars are uniformly also emergencies and we all now know what Western regimes will do in the face of an “emergency”, don't we? And just in case we've forgotten, here's the UN's IPCC report of 2021:
“There is a great turn coming, a change in the terms of political debate, a period of hinge. We are swinging from the many months of coronavirus obsession into an autumn which will be dominated, rightly, by the climate emergency. But much of what we have learned from Covid-19 – about the state, authority, journalism and civil society – is directly applicable to what’s coming next.”(57)
Not a huge amount of ambiguity there, I would suggest. Additionally, at some point, the proto-totalitarians were going to have to push the pace, because every year that passes without climate catastrophes, melted ice caps and warm Julys is a further nail in the climate narrative. People notice these things; more of them disengage. That is not good.
However, if regimes organize a large scale gaslighting alleging a rapid deterioration in the environment (augmented by their own operatives, armed with boxes of matches) and then follow it with lock-downs and a cessation of the arson campaign, they can pretend that it's their measures that are saving us from a boiling globe. Et voilà. Events were already trending in that direction – and then, there was the Maui fire.
My impression is that the destruction of Lahaina was to be the final piece of the jigsaw. It's certainly possible that it wasn't intended to be quite as devastating to human life as it was, but the circumstances surrounding the fire (prior to it breaking out, during the conflagration and afterwards) are deeply problematic. The politicians certainly didn't waste any time in attempting to leverage the fire:
"The devastation in Maui is a clear sign that the president must declare a climate emergency — now.”(58)
That was a Democrat Congressman and co-author of the original Green New Deal resolution. He was echoing the Democrat Governor of Hawaii, another self-proclaimed subject expert, who shared the following insight:
"Climate change is here. We are in the midst of it with a hotter planet and fiercer storms..."(59)
and claimed that climate change was the reason that the Maui fire moved so swiftly – along with Hurricane Dora.
There is much to the Maui story, including a disturbing storyline concerning SMART technology and state interference in property rights. If there are no coincidences in politics, then the timing of the fire itself is deeply suspicious, coming in the midst of a dispute about land use in Lahaina between the Governor and the people's representatives which had culminated in an emergency housing proclamation (almost certainly unconstitutional) on 23rd July, which suspended various state laws and overrode the state legislature's position.(60)
There are also a number of unfortunate coincidences and unacknowledged facts that give rise to suspicion. For starters, Maui has an arson problem, too. Three persons were arrested in May 2022 and charged with starting six brush fires in central Maui.(61) But that didn't solve the problem; on 4th August, four days before the disaster, satellites reported that a handful of small fires on Maui had started at the same time. There has been no official cause given by authorities.(62)
Lahaina is (was) very susceptible to fire, as the town is surrounded by grasslands – mostly state owned and overtaken by highly combustible, non-native grasses.(63)(64) The risk had been known and documented for nearly a decade.(65) In addition, while Hawaiian Electric had identified (in 2019) the need to spend $190 million in upgrading the safety of its infrastructure and managing vegetation, it needed to be able to finance it and the Hawaiian Public Utilities Commission refused to grant rate rises to cover the work.(66)
The focus was, instead, on meeting renewable energy goals,(67) and mitigating risk in the existing system came a distant second – instead of millions, the utility company spent a mere $245,000 on wildfire-specific programmes. Consequently, the area around Lahaina was not only as dry as a tinder on August 8th; it was also neglected and mismanaged
The narrative insists that it was the arrival of Hurricane Dora that proved to be the critical element in what followed. However, this is unlikely:
“Dora, even though it was a major hurricane, had a very small wind field, and it’s very far away from the state .... It was an incredibly flammable landscape surrounding a very flammable town.”(68)
The wind that ripped through the landscape, downing power lines in its wake and then fanning the fires that followed, is far more likely to have been an extreme example of a local phenomenon caused by a strong high pressure system called the North Pacific High.(69) Whichever way it's sliced though, the island had plenty of warning – enough to keep the kids off school, in any event (70), as the National Weather Service was warning of dangerous fire conditions as early as August 3rd.(71)
At the time of writing, the story is that the high winds downed power lines and wildfires resulted. In total, 29 fully energized poles came down in Maui that day (72) and there is certainly evidence (both visual and via sensors) to show that lines did come down and fires did result,(73) but this was in the early morning, not the afternoon – a distinction that may be crucial in understanding the origin of the primary blaze. Firefighters attended and did the necessary, first declaring the fire contained and then reporting that it had been extinguished.(74) They had left the scene by 2pm, at which point Hawaiian Electric emergency crews arrived to make repairs.
They subsequently reported seeing no fire, smoke or embers and yet, just before 3pm, they spotted a small fire about 75 yards away near the Intermediate School.(75) It was this fire that did the damage as, by the time fire crews re-attended, it was out of control and heading towards town. This is where matters become even more contentious. The Wall Street Journal notes that
“The area where flames were first spotted is full of electrical infrastructure, mostly operated by Hawaiian Electric, the state’s monopoly electricity supplier. This included a substation and a multitude of power lines.”(76)
However, the utility company notes that by 3pm the power lines had been de-energized for more than six hours and, if the original Morning Fire had been put out, the Afternoon Fire could not be the fault of their infrastructure. It's also true that, while turning off the power in such circumstances seems to be a no-brainer, there are different schools of thought as to its efficacy.
No electricity can also mean no water pumps,(77) and by 4.46pm – the time at which the flames moved into town – firefighters found that there was little to no water pressure in the fire hydrants.(78) The fact that the official responsible for the release of water spent most of the day balking at requests for the release of additional water to prevent the fire from spreading wouldn't have helped, either.(79) Once again, this issue was not unanticipated – in 2022, two Maui senators had introduced a bill that would have required the use of reservoir waters to fight fires, but it died without a hearing.(80)
It is noteworthy that the primary conflagration was far from the only fire that day and explanations are still a little hard to come by:
“Though experts say the early evidence suggests multiple blazes may have been ignited in and around Lahaina on Aug. 8, there were no recorded lightning strikes or other apparent natural causes for the fires.”(81)
At least one site is atypical, being a little distance from the road and well away from power lines.(82) And the response from the rest of the emergency services unaccountably made matters far worse. Not only was there no activation of the world famous warning sirens – Hawaii has the largest integrated outdoor warning system on the globe -(83) but the police blockaded the only exit route, turning people back into the flames and bringing traffic to a standstill.(84)(85)(86) Only those whose disobeyed instruction or who jumped in the ocean as the fire approached, managed to survive. Others were incinerated in their vehicles.
Figure 13
Figure 14
It seems that nobody in responsibility did a single thing right, unless we believe that the firefighters did truly put the Morning Fire out, which may very well be the case. But the state government and the utility company are clearly culpable before the fact and the chief of the Emergency Management Agency, the water official and the Lahaina police combined to add huge loss of life to the loss of property.
Although numbers are difficult to ascertain at present, it is highly probable that hundreds of children are among the dead; 2,025 schoolchildren have not re-enrolled at other public schools post the fire, although it seems as though perhaps 800-1,000 may be opting for a private education now.(87) A final body count may be impossible to calculate – tourists and homeless people (there were large numbers of the latter) may simply be listed as permanently missing and, while the charred remains of entire families have been found huddled together,(88) some corpses may leave no trace, such was the heat of the fire.
Official action in the aftermath has also attracted suspicion. There has been a troubling lack of empathy, from Biden on down. The Governor blamed climate change immediately, before any investigation had even started. The Mayor of Maui, in particular, seems more interested in picking fights with journalists and obfuscating than he does in doing his job.(89) Locals have had to fend for themselves, as the state bureaucracy has gone out of its way to obstruct the aid effort:
“...it appears local efforts to help are being shut down, roadblocks are all over town, and only the feds and their longtime ally -- that's FEMA and the Red Cross -- are "permitted" providers of aid, according to reports.”(90)
Information as to the casualties is being withheld, with ludicrous caveats being introduced, such as not declaring a countable death unless a body is complete.(91) Transparency, especially from state officials, is in very short supply. Instead, they are busying themselves by instructing FEMA not to post images and videos of Lahaina online, grounding licensed drone operators who attempt to fly over the area where the fire originated and erecting miles of fence-cum-curtain around the site.(92) They say that it's to prevent ash blowing out of the site and that it will probably be up for a year. Maybe, maybe not. If one were a suspicious type, one might think they were trying to hide something.
Figure 15
One might also wonder whether there might be more than one wildfire origin, which wouldn't fit the current narrative.
Figure 16
And while suspecting that the Maui blaze was the work of bad actors with an agenda to foster may seem a little too conspiratorial, there is a good deal of evidence to suggest that pyro-terrorism is a tactic used by a range of entities. The Palestinians waged an Arson Intifada against the Israelis in 2004 and the San Diego Fire Storms of 2003 were also the result of wildfire terrorism, according to the DoJ.(93) ISIS is also a big fan of the technique, publishing a recent video tutorial:
“Tactically, the video advises would-be jihadists to “monitor well for a place where you can set a fire without drawing attention” and “consider that the fire will be so great that efforts made to extinguish it will cost your enemies greatly and perhaps they will not be able to put it out” before it spreads out of control.”(94)
The video specifically references California, also. Convenient scapegoats are, therefore, to hand should there be a need to eventually acknowledge human involvement.
It is difficult to see how arson at Lahaina could be proven if the regime doesn't want it to be. The extreme measures being taken by the state are making any private evidence gathering problematic. However, it is estimated that, in the course of a typical wildfire season, around 84% of blazes are the result of human agency - whether by deliberate act or otherwise.(95) Combine those odds with what little we do know about the Maui fire's origins, season with a seemingly coordinated firebug campaign across Europe and North America and add one further ingredient – the constant attempts to blame climate change – and it isn't difficult to make a case for regime collusion, even in the absence of definitive proof.
It would be right in their wheelhouse, after all. The non-natural origin of the 'pandemic' has shown us that governments have the means to manufacture crises and the intent to do so if it advances their power-grab. The question that should always be on our lips when attempting to untangle events is “Cui bono?” Who benefits? In this instance, any regime that espouses Net Zero can manipulate the narrative to suit their ends, which is exactly what they are doing.
It's just about possible that they are merely obeying the maxim and refusing to let a crisis go to waste. If that were the case, the timing is most convenient, as arsonists have gone on a rampage at the precise moment that most suits the governments of the West. I would bet against that scenario, given the newfound enthusiasm for lock-downs that is manifesting itself amongst the great and the good. There's another maxim that also deserves an airing:
“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”(96)
This reading would dictate that the Maui wildfire may have been part of the campaign. Given that the death toll will be a thousand plus, most of them children, this would make it (if deliberate) a heinous crime; one that is difficult to countenance, but not so difficult to imagine. It's possible that matters got out of hand – the serial incompetence of Leftists and ideologues is hardly a secret. But, on the day, many factors needed to combine to make the outcome possible and the failure to provide warning, water or an escape route are difficult to categorize as simple incompetence.
The tenor of the official response also feels off. The first couple of times Biden was asked about Maui he was on holiday (again) and he simply said “No comment” and went back to the beach.(97) It took him two weeks to put in an appearance at Lahaina. The Governor and the Mayor also seem devoid of empathy. It all feels very sketchy.
As does the entire summer-long climate change narrative. While attempts to blame the Maui fire on global warming are struggling to gain traction, it is apparent that a concerted effort to talk up climate change is underway. Any and all means are being deployed, from misdirection all the way through to direct action, but if previous experience is anything to go by, the believability of the narrative is still of secondary importance to those who peddle it.
They simply need to make the claim and then act as if it is true, safe in the knowledge that we will do nothing to stop them. It is a near certainty that one of the desired outcomes is some form of climate lock-down, although the timing of the attempt is still unknown. It may even be that another type of lock-down comes first.
But while a 'pandemic' lock-down is necessarily time-limited, no such condition need be attached to a climate lock-down. After all, the planet needs saving, according to the alarmists. Most measures can be justified in those circumstances. Perhaps the autumn would be the time to do it. The useful idiots in the Democratic Party seem to think so, hence the choreography and backing down isn't in the DNA.
